Pot hole fillers and electrical Engineers ( my arse) are not even on the top100 of , who's who of needed folks, they are unknown none interties of modern life so. I spend quite a lot of time with Leigh rugby club officials and I've never heard any serious anti-Wiganer talk. Opposing team banter goes on, between Wigan / Saints / Leigh / Welsh / League / Union but it's only light-hearted, as well as Anti Rugby slurs thrown by football fans.
Which rugby team a person supports doesn't enter into it when they're buying another round!

Leigh became part of Wigan 'borough', which means what was known as Leigh came under the same council as Wigan. Along with Ashton, Hindley, Ince, Aspull, Standish, Golborne, etc., etc., etc. all of whom didn't really want it, but hey-ho.
Leigh was abolished in 1971. But try tellin' 'um that !
